The project deadline is approaching and while we haven’t came up with any records (yet), we have succeeded in carrying out our mission statement; to persevere while attempting to complete ridiculous world records. With Jacob in Australia and my dependence on his ability to send me our videos, it’ll be hard create content to upload to our YouTube channel. So for the first time in this project, our execution of iste standard 2a, has suffered due to poor communication. This roadblock, Jacob not being present, allows for me to stretch my ability to problem solve and practice critical thinking; iste standard 4. During this time I can work on a script for the impending Ted talks and try and continue the work we’ve done. Personally, I think that I can break a world record. Maybe not by March 8th, but someday, and someday soon. That doesn’t mean I’m going to be like Ashrita Furman, devote my life to the completion of world records and train for years. What this entails is that I keep trying. An important lesson that I have been humbled by during the course of this project. “I didn’t go out and say I wanna break world records for a living. I just wanted to be better than the day before.” An extract from Ashrita Furman’s blog. It is in our common interest to be better than yesterday, and it is why these records exist, to be broken.
